A quarter of my classmates skipped class today.

Université Laval seldom closes on account of weather. However, classes for all other students across the city--from elementary- to high-school--were cancelled. Many of my classmates had to stay home to take care of their children.

I was surprised. I expected this city would know how to deal with the onset of winter. Last night's snowfall wasn't all that heavy. The temperatures haven't fallen much below freezing. But there's a huge winter storm forecast to blow through in the next days.

Whenever the storm does blow through I hope it lands sooner than later. I have a flight out of here this Friday afternoon to see family over Christmas.
